Les 4 et 5 mars 1977, The Cockroaches, « les cafards », c’est sous ce nom de scène que les Rolling Stones avaient frappé fort en se produisant pour deux concerts surprises au El Mocambo, un club de quelque 300 places, au cœur de Toronto, en première partie du groupe de hard rock canadien April Wine.

Live at the El Mocambo comprendra les 23 titres joués le 5 mars 1977 ainsi que trois chansons jouées la veille, entre reprises rock et de blues et classiques du répertoire des Stones (Brown Sugar, Jumpin’ Jack Flash,Let’s Spend The Night Together, etc.). Jusqu’à présent, seules des versions pirates de ces deux concerts ont circulé sur la toile. Ce disque sera disponible en CD double, en format vinyle, et en format digital.

Pour rappel, les Rolling Stones entameront en juin prochain leur grande tournée anniversaire, SIXTY, et seront présents en France pour deux concerts inédits au Groupama Stadium de Lyon (19 juillet) et à l’Hippodrome de Longchamp (23 juillet). Sur scène, ils seront accompagnés de Steve Jordan, remplaçant du batteur Charlie Watts décédé en août 2021.
